Τhe glory of the humblest materials
Epirus was a major centre of neo-Hellenic jewellery production, where the Islamic love for vegetal patterns and flowers co-existed with the Greek Baroque. Craftsmen used humble materials for creating voluminous and complex jewellery enriched with chains and coins. The use of coins in jewellery served a practical purpose, as a way of saving money. However, Epirotic jewellery’s beauty is not defined by its material value.
